Russian troops shelled Balakliia, Kharkiv region, on February 28, and at the beginning of March, the occupiers entered the city. They divided the territory of the city into three zones and forbade local residents to cross their borders, denied evacuation corridors from Balakliia, and terrorized the civilian population.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Balakliia on September 8: the Ukrainian flag was raised on the city’s main square, and Ukrainian military personnel entered the city. Authorities, police, and rescuers are gradually returning to the de-occupied territories. Preparations for winter will soon begin in the city. And we can help!
